Hi all, first of all, thanks for the add!

My name is Alex, and I live in Perth, Western Australia.

I've only been shooting bows for around 18 months, and soon after starting, I got the Trad Archery bug.

I started off with a target recurve, I bought a Cartel Fantom ILF recurve bow, 27# @ 28", and all the accessories. I shoot left handed with this, as I am left eye dominant and ambidextrous.

I was happy using this outfit until a friend of mine at the Archery club offered me the loan of a longbow for a few days. Lets just say I was hooked!

The ILF recurve gear hardly gets a showing these days, it spends most of it's time in the hard case under my bed, I only take it out occasionally just to keep my eye in.

I bought a Cartel Viper DLX, which is 40# @ 28", and 68" overall. (At my draw length of 31", it stacks and draws at around 49#). This bow is right-handed, and I shoot it both eyes open in the "instinctive" style.

My son also shoots trad, I bought him a Border Bows Harrier GL r/d, which is 26# @ 28".

Anyway, I hope to learn a lot, and make some new friends with the same passion for trad archery that I have got!

Regards,

Alex

Welcome to trad archery! When you said you are hooked, I wonder if you really understand what it means. You think about it, you scheme to get another new bow, arrows, quiver, etc, all the time. You join one club, then another, and maybe still another. You shoot a lot, and when not shooting, you wish you were. You talk incessantly about it to friends and family. You seek out the company of other trad guys. And that doesn't even touch the topic of hunting if your interests lead you in that direction. The world of trad archery is a good place, or as Satchmo sang, "What a wonderful world." By the way, the longbow also just reached out and drew me in. Now I have something like 15 of them. You will meet many people here who can really give good advice and with whom you can share your progress and enthusiasm.

Welcome from Colorado!

You need to keep an eye on your bows...they tend to multiply!

Another welcome from Texas. I wish I had taken the time and money to see Australia. The country and wild life are fascinating. I emailed back and forth and received videos from the makers of Stock Whips. They were true artist in the braiding and skills with Bull and Stock Whips. I love the out going independent folks there.     Ken
