Then it happened.
We got a long, soaking rain. I love rain, especially when I am tired, in a snug camp, and it is pattering on the roof of my tent.
Having worked a full day Tuesday, I left Ashburn, VA and set out for Twin Oaks. I drove straight through, except for three hours spent sleeping in my truck at a rest area between Knoxville and Nashville. After setting camp and getting to meet Pappy, it was too warm to sleep in the tent, so I drowsed in my cookshack until sunset cooled things down.
And the rain came, and sounded so soothing... I slept like a lamb.
It rained all day today, too, which I thoroughly enjoyed. But the poor guy that got stuck when he pulled into the pasture with a trailer didn't like it too much. He had 4WD, but jackknifed all the same. Pappy pulled him out with a tractor.
So, be mindful, be gentle, be careful.

BTW, I love this beautiful place. There are birds for me to learn, plants that I don't know yet, and somehow, this well-loved land tells me that it is happy. It is truly magic.
