Finished 2016 with a little help from lady luck and managed to kill a fine buck on the 2nd to last day of our season here in Ks. Very grateful since I had missed a very nice 10 pointer in Nov by just shooting under his brisket. Much of Dec I was unable to get out due to lack of motivation, our rifle season, holiday prep or just too cold but with the final two days facing me on a super windy Friday afternoon, I decided to get in a tree and at 5pm this guy sauntered by seemingly without a care in the world. The arrow looked good but I did not see him go down immediately and instead watched him standing 100 yards away from my stand in a cluster of hedge trees for 15 minutes or so. So at dark, I quietly climbed down and snuck from the area and on new years eve morning returned and with the aid of my son following his blood trail (I'm red/green colorblind) recovered him unscathed from predators. Arrow caught him in the final intercostal rib space and exited just behind the diaphragm. Would like to share a pic of him but I don't have an account on an internet site but thought I'd share my experience anyway. Happy New Year to my fellow trad hunters!
