Kodiak Deer Hunt
« on: January 10, 2017, 09:44:00 PM »
Finally got photo bucket working so I thought I would post a couple of pictures from Kodiak last fall.
It was a another great trip to Kodiak for me. Seen a lot of deer missed one buck and took this deer on the last day of a 6 day hunt. Had one close encounter with a bear at about 20 feet. Found out later that I was setting in a trail where some other hunters had drug a deer down a couple of hours before and the bear was following the drag trail. After a little bluffing and posturing he finally went by me and followed the trail to where their deer was and packed it off.

Very pretty deer!  Congratulations.  A successful hunt on a couple levels;  an unforgettable encounter with the bear, and going home with a nice buck.

Well done, Chase

Congrats Marty. I expect the bear story to be significantly embellished around the campfire next week.

Awesome. A trip out that way has always intrigued me. That close to a grizzly or brown would be high adventure for sure!

Nice buck, sounds like quite the adventure!  I will get to experience Kodiak Island myself this fall, Lord willing, thanks to the PBS.
