Dan Toelke custom work
« on: January 11, 2017, 10:16:00 AM »
Friend's of mine, Matt and Cheryl Napper of Shiloh Ranch fame, have some pretty neat features on their property, including some old fences which use Osage for the fenceposts.  Matt told me that these had been there since at least the 1930's.  Matt wanted an archery related keepsake from his ranch and contacted Dan about what he could do with one of the posts.

I guess the came up with a plan to use the wood for lams for matching bows for Matt and Cheryl, using horn from o e of the Rams from their ranch for the tips.  Looks like Osage and bacote for the riser.  Matt says they are shooters too.  Anyway, I thought it was pretty cool, so I thought I would share.

Beautiful work from Dan, as we have come to expect, and quite a wonderful memory for Matt and Cheryl!

Some of the most distinctive Osage I've seen. Love the dark color and the bacote matches it perfectly.

If all Osage looked like that I would like Osage. Wow that's a extraordinary piece.
