2 piece takedown carry case ideas.
« on: January 15, 2017, 12:11:00 AM »
What do you use to store/transport your 2 piece takedown?  I just took a bow sock and sewed it in the middle. I am looking for more protection. The other question is how do you store your string to keep it from tangling and/or untwisting to effect brace height?  Thanks

For your string , just fold over one loop end about where the splice stops and slip it thrue the other loop and draw them up together so it looks like a square knot .

I got a far north case for my 2 piece caribow.  Great protection when travelling.

I took an MTM arrow case and installed foam in one side , traced out my bow and cut out shape. I can now carry bow and arrows in one package .

I have a soft case made for a breakdown shotgun.  It provides good padding and the sleeve for the shotgun barrel keeps the 2 halves separated.  Mine has an outside zipper pouch for strings and accessories.  The one I use was made by Orvis.  It works perfectly.

Safari Tuff 2PC T/D case works great for me. Check out the top of the Form Forum, Safari Tuff is a top-notch sponsor.

As far as the string... I use a tip protector and leave the string on the bottom limb. I take the string off the top half of T/D and slide it over the tip protector. I hope that makes sense.   :)

A quick coat of string wax will also keep the string from untwisting.

That looks slick! Would you say that MTM case is strong enough for aircraft travel?

I cut down a padded shotgun case.  Took a little time to do but turned out quite well.

I did the same with a mtm arrow case a few years back.  Guess I wasn't as original as I thought.

I use a two piece bow sock and I put that in a arrow tube. Arrow tubes can be bought from a veriety of companies. They generally twist to allow them to extend. Once I have them the right length for the bow I wrap some duct tape around them just to make them a little more secure. I find this great for most situations but I think I still might hesitate to put my bow on a plane like that. I'm sure that a pvc tube could be made into a nice travel case with a little work.

I know a guy that made his from PVC pipe. Made a two piece bow sock that was open in middle. That way he didn't have to take string off.  He could put an arrow tube in there also. He put some clothing inside around bow and arrow tube to keep stuff from rattling around. He not only flew with this rig but would lash it to his car roof carrier. His bow is a short Elburg he had made.

Safari Tuff case and a toothbrush case for the string.

I've seen Drewsbow case. Amazing!
I would not be afraid to use it for air travel

Hi Greg,
Normally I just use the bow sock that came with it, but I have this case for flying. It holds the bow, my arrow case, my GN quiver, and has room for compact binoculars, small camera, other delicate items in Crown Royal bags tucked here and there.

It's some sort of M4 case and it's supposedly fully TSA OK'd. I think it was around $150 but considering what I put in it, I just consider it extra insurance.

I don't know if this is at all what you were looking for, but I thought I'd offer it up in case it got your wheels turning.
