Clicker Modification
« on: January 16, 2017, 06:04:00 PM »
Anybody remove the ball chain completely and install a rope?  I was thinking BCY #23 Release Rope would probably work well.

Absolutely.  I have been doing that to mine for many years. The ball chain will damage the finish on your bow limb.

Yep I do the same. I use some small paracord. Seemed to quiet it a bit also.

My clicker set up looks exactly like A. S. posted.  Like him, I just stick the cord through the string and serve above and blow to keep it in place when unstrung.

Exactly what I was thinking and exactly why.  Is that BCY #23?

Mike, I think that is what I use. Just the standard BCY loop material.

Thanks.  The standard loop material is #24 and a little heavier.  The #23 material is the stuff people sometimes use on hinge releases.

The first thing I do is take the chain off and substitute a non-stretch string/cord.  The chain just chips the finish on the limbs.

I just bought a spool of braided contractors line (I guess that's what it's called)at Home Depot. It's soft, pretty small diameter, not stiff....seems to work just fine and is durable as well.

I have one of those still in the package I bought with one of my Predators.  Good to know if I ever use it about that chain. I'd be bummed to damage the limb finish without associated adventure.

I stopped by my local shop tonight and picked up some BCY #24 D Loop rope.  Works great!  The smaller #23 rope would probably be too small for the hole in the spring steel.  Thanks guys!

I use 1-2" of small diameter paracord and connect that and the string with 90# test Spiderwire.

When I used one I did basically what Steve O did. I used a 1 or 2 inch piece of bow reel fishing cord on the clicker instead of the chain. I tied a knot in the end opposite of the clicker. I used the same bow fishing line inserted in the bow string and used a slip knot to go around the knot in the clicker string. This way if I needed to twist the string to adjust brace height all I had to do was loosen the slip knot and take the string off of the clicker string. Hope that all makes sense.

I took a short cut and just black taped where the chain might hit. I'm going to make a sleeve for the chain at some point.
