Turkish, Eastern Style bows for Hunting?

I'm kicking around the idea of trying out a compact, Eastern-style recurve as a possible hunting bow. The compact design seems perfect for tight spaces, from sitting positions and still-hunting through the woods. I'm starting to get the hang of a thumb ring release. The added draw length could be a benefit as well. Has anybody used these kinds of bows in the field? Anybody willing to share their experiences with this style in a hunting setup (say 40-45# draw)?

Why not? Didn't they hunt with them back in the day?

My fathers turkish and will eventually get me a turkish bow with the help of my family there. I'd love to be able to harvest a deer with an eastern bow particularly a turkish bow. The whole thumb release thing is intimidating to me though. There's a video of someone taking a deer with a Korean horse bow on YouTube and like Sam said I'm sure ottomans hunted with them out in the mountains.
