Who's still shooting aluminum's?
«

Just a curious question! With all the skinny carbons and FOC, EFOC, UEFOC, etc... I was just wondering if there were any diehard aluminum fans still out there? I've been on the carbon train for a while now, but I'm going to do a U-turn and head back to my roots for a while.
This is not a carbon/aluminum debate, just an innocent question!
Thanks in advance

I've recently started shooting aluminum again since my compound days back in the '90's. My lower poundage bows shoot 2016's better than anything else. Just a point weight change and I'm ready to go. Hassle free tuning.

Just bought some 2018's today. I like carbons, but aluminums are straighter, unless I buy .001 carbon shafts. My arrow spinner shows it. Guy I buy my arrows from is great, but I have to tell him to cut so much from both ends all the time, if the carbons are .003-.006.

XX75 2016 Game getters and Legacys. For stumping I foot my 2016s with 2 1/2" of 2215 I think they are.
I actually put the insert in the 2215 shaft. They hold up really well.

I'm impressed! I'm an aluminum fan myself. I've give the carbons a fair shake, but I'm ready to feel the chill of some camo hunters!

I shot wood for twenty years, aluminum for the last ten. I've never used carbon.

Last fall I used 2018 easton shafts that belonged to my father. I just recently got some from 3 Rivers.
Those old gamegetters could be a little soft if you weren't careful with your shooting. The newer version is the much tougher XX75 alloy.
I always figured as long as it was working I wouldn't change it. Give me aluminum any day.

GameGetters, Tributes, Legacy - I like and shoot aluminums. With such a wide range of sizes, you can really tune the arrow to the bow while keeping your point weights the same, from bow to bow. That is very appealing. Platinum Plus will be my next shafts.

I gave carbon a try for a couple of years, and I love wood; but I ALWAYS have a stash of aluminum arrows ready to go.

I am new to trad but prefer aluminum to carbon when it makes sense for the bow. I like not having to flex the arrow after each shot to make sure it's safe (I've had several carbon shafts explode when shooting from a compound and broke a few with trad bows) and I can cut them with a tube cutter myself instead of an expensive saw (which I do not own). They also seem to be much more consistent in weight. Lancaster has all the aluminum shafts you need if you do your research.

Aluminums only. I've got quite a stock of them for my various needs.

I shoot Easton Legacy 1918's in my 40 and 45# bows and 2016 in my 50# bow. I still have some vintage game getters and XX75 autumn orange shafts in 2117,2016,and may have some 2018's around here somwhere. Great for targets and hunting but can be risky for stumping if you have hard stumps or alot of rocks like I do around here.

I recently bought a dozen 2219 Super Slams. They will be my 2017 3d arrows.
