Well this is the 2nd bow I've gotten from Bob Smith at Big Stick archery and let me tell you they are shooter's! The newest one I just got is 62" 60@28 and is a looker, Zebra wood and Wenge was used in this bow and it has a stippled grip which is very nice. Since I have 2 of his bows now I figure I can give a good review.
These bows look very good and feel good in the hand. The grip on these bows fit me very well and are very repeatable for me. Honestly these bows point extremely well for me and my left and right misses are almost non existent. These bows have a different sound to them, a nice low thump and that's it. They are very quiet and have very little vibration for a 1pc longbow, a very well behaved bow is easy to shoot! Now this bow isn't the fastest bow I've ever shot but it's one of the easiest bows to shot well for me. The Big Stick Assassin overall is a great bow and very well priced, the one in the pictures is between the $600-$650 mark.
This was the first group at 20 yards, these arrows were a little stiff for this bow come to find out after a little tuning.
Once I started to bareshaft tune this bow it was easy!!! 31" Gold tip Peirce micro diameter arrow with three 3" feathers and a 300gr point is a match made in heaven. Total arrow weight is 615gr which should be perfect for elk this year!
I was able to kill my biggest buck to date with the first bow I got from Bob early in November! I had the bow for a week and shot this guy! I had a complete passthrough on this buck and he only made it 35 yards before crashing!
So if your in the market for a new 1pc longbow at a great price check out Big Stick archery. Customer service is great and he's a easy guy to talk too.
