I noticed that there weren't any posts on this yet for this year, so here it is...

This year's dates are March 16-19, 2017, as always it will be held at the Rutter farm near Perkins, OK and is made possible by the hard-working folks of the OSS (Oklahoma Selfbow Society). Entry and camping are FREE. Limited trailer camping, but LOTS of room for primitive camping. There are always fun shooting events, a 3D course & competition and plenty of vendors on hand. This is a great time for family, fellowship and learning! If anyone has any questions, just let me know. If I don't know the answer, I will do my best to find out the answer. There's also an OJAM Facebook page, and a few other members here on Tradgang that would be happy to help.

So, who's planning on joining us for the World's Largest Primitive Archery learning event???      :archer2:

Note: the food provided by the Boy Scouts is For Sale (not free), and very tasty!

Gordon Jabben

I'm planning on being there Tony. One of my favorite gatherings.

Fattony77

Glad to hear it, Gordon! I look forward to seeing you again. Maybe we can shoot a round together this year...?

Terry Lightle

The Nocking Point will be there in the same place as always!

I really want to make this one day, but not gonna happen this year. That is during Spring break, and my wife is off, so she already made plans for us to go skiing with my son and DIL.

Y'all have fun!

Bisch, the OSS always makes it for the week of Oklahoma's Spring Break, so there's a better turn-out of kids. We (the OSS) also give out a large number of rattan bows to the kids that are present, which is always fun to see the looks on their faces as they get a bow of their very own!

So the Spring Break thing isn't likely to change. Looks like you're just gonna have to put your foot down, if you're ever gonna make it...    :scared:     :biglaugh:  Just kidding, buddy. Don't get yourself into trouble! Lol Begging usually works better anyway!

Looking forward to visiting with you Terry.

Guys this is the best event going in the country to learn how and build a quality bow! The OSS really puts a bunch of work into this event.

It'll be my first, but it sure looks like there will be some good friends there.  It works out great that I can drop my wife off in Fort Smith to spend a few days with our granddaughter... a win/win for sure.  I'm sure looking forward to it!

Fattony77

Mike, glad to hear that you're going to make it again this year. And that's a heck of an endorsement, coming from you!

Bob, we'll be glad to meet ya!

Is there a list of events somewhere as well as a description of any donation type things we should bring... ?  (things like the MoJam clout/long shoot, potluck and charity auction)  I do love eating and watching arrows fly long distances...  :)

Fattony77

Bob, the schedule is usually posted up around the registration booth, but some things are pretty consistant. Saturday morning is the kids' bows give-away, usually Sat. evening is the clout shoot and awards. Raffles are held off & on throughout, and there's usually an auctionin there somewhere, too.

As for donation items, usually it's stuff that is trad/primitive archery related, and lots of hand-made items or materials with which to make things, but there's sometimes some completely unrelated items like scented candles or some other things that might interest the family members that are not-so-interested in primitive archery or hunting. Honestly, I doubt that the OSS would turn much away, if it would help us to pay for continuing this event...

The pot-luck is usually Wed. night, and seems to be a growing event. Lol

Bob at Work

that'll work!  thanks much.  I'll try to make a few cane arrows and see if I have some billets.  I might try to make a few kids arrows to if they would help.

Fattony77

TTT! It's next, folks! Anybody else gonna be there?

Make sure you are stocked up, Terry.  Your trailer is usually one of my first stops, after the Boy Scout coffee pot.
