Congrats... Looks like a great hunt with a great group.  I've been looking for a place like this to take my 15yr old to kill his first hog.  Recommendations are welcome..

I had a blast on this trip, probably one of the most fun hunts I've been on!

The drive in was an adventure itself, 18 miles of rough road with several areas of pretty high water.

Once we got to camp we got the rundown from our hosts, then quickly got our hunting gear and headed out to check out the ranch.  The plan was to corn lots of roads and pipelines, then circle around frequently to see if any critters showed up.  I partnered up with bornagainbowhunter (Nathan) and his boys for the afternoon hunt.  We got the boys settled into a popup blind near a hot feeder then got busy corning our areas. It wasn't long before we had some company.

Awesome report. And well done to Lane! I remember that excitement and seeing the arrow go over the top!

After a couple of fruitless stalks we let the area cool off a bit, heading back to the first area we corned.  We spied a lone javi on road and it was game on.  There was a light rain falling and the wind seemed good.   I was up to bat.

  [/IMG]

At the last moment prior to shooting the javi must have smelled me, and it trotted into the thick mesquite and cactus. It didn't go far, as I could still see it, and there was a clear window for a shot. The arrow was away and the shot looked pretty good, maybe a bit high I thought. Nathan and I began to trail immediately due to the rain, but the blood trail was pretty sparse and we lost the trail after the rain picked up the cover got thicker.
