Colorado Elk Guides
« on: March 18, 2017, 04:15:00 PM »
I'm looking at booking an elk hunt in Colorado in 2018. Do any of you guys have a good outfitter you'd recommend? I've heard some good stuff about T Bar M Outfitters and they're on my list. And I have thought about the DIY hunts, but my hunting experience is limited strictly to Texas and I know nothing about elk, so I'm wanting to use a guide. Hopefully some of you Colorado guys can point me in the right direction!!

Don't know about any others but I'd never go back to Winterhawk.

I don't know any Colorado guys that use guides in CO, you will probably get more input from non residents.  I would look for access to private property.

Well since I made this post, I've talked to a friend that is interested in putting a group together...So if we can make it happen, we may end up doing a DIY hunt. There's still plenty of time to research, so we'll see I guess.

You can have a good time on a DIY hunt. Just go with like minded folks and have a good time. A dead elk is just a bonus

Hunted with T bar M outfitters two years ago. Really enjoyed the trip seen 12 bulls one cow. Had several close encounters and missed a chip shot on a huge 6x6. All the bulls were huge except three one was a spike a 4x3 and a 4x4. Great setup

Thanks for all the help and replies guys!! I've talked to a few guys that want to go and I think we'll end up doing a DIY hunt after all. We have plenty of time to research, and if nothing else this first hunt will be a learning experience for me for years to come.
