Backyard Gobblers
« on: March 21, 2017, 08:45:00 AM »
I thought I'd share a few photos of the birds behind my house. There are 7 gobblers in this bunch and some of them are roosting about 100 yards from the porch. I will be hunting them with a selfbow this year and, hopefully, I will be able to lure at least one of these guys in for a shot. That is, if Mr. Bobcat leaves them alone long enough. I've gotten pictures of him two weeks in a row now.

Come on April 17th!

Love those wide beards! Good luck. I'll be in Kentucky chasing them at that time and hope to get my first with a recurve this year

Nice set of birds Darren.  Maybe you could introduce Mr. Bobcat to Mr. Steeltrap before the 17th.

Awesome birds!  Our season opens this weekend.  I'd be happy with a shot at a jake, let alone one of those big boys.  Hope they stick around for you!

I cant wait, same as everyone else.  I will primarily use a shotgun (single shot 20 gauge, cant make it too easy) since I really want some feathers to process, some wing bones and some meat, but Im sure Ill take my bow out some this year again too.

I got drawn back on some last year, but they were off to my left side, they were about 30 yards over a slight rise, and knew I was there, so they were moving pretty good.  Not worth taking such a poor shot for me.  But it was a thrill, no doubt.

All the best of success and may the selfbow prove to be the good luck charm.
