Ordered me a Talltines Curve
« on: March 22, 2017, 09:13:00 AM »
Orded myself a 58" 45@27 Talltines Recurve
Wenge with Bocote flare and bocote limbs
Antler tips
Checkered grip

After 5 years of shooting trad, I have had nearly 30 bows.  Most of which are 1 piece R/D longbows 54-64"s in length and 43-56lbs.  Well after a year of elbow issues and a pinched nerve in my neck, I have decided to try a 3 piece recurve.  Due to the nature of the TT grip my draw length will increase nearly a full inch.  I dropped weight from normally shooting 50lbs to 45lbs.  Hopefully the heavier riser and less weight will aid in my elbow issues a little bit.

This will only be my 4th recurve and my 2nd three piece recurve.

I'm excited!  Pics to come in a few months when it is finished!

You will be more than impressed. Also the high grip of a recurve should be a lot easier on your wrist.

I have owned several TT bows and currently own three TT recurves and two Stickflinger longbows.  when I tried the 18" recurve riser I found I preferred the longer riser with the short or long limbs for overall bow lengths of 62-64" over the shorter 16" riser, which is why I sold the others.  Brian builds a fantastic looking bow that performs exceptionally well, and has the best repeatable and most comfortable grip in the business (in my opinion).  The grip is even more enhanced when checkered.  I have another recurve coming in about a week from Brian, which verifies my "me likey" obsession with TT bows.  This latest one is Camo Dymondwood with an Ebony Dymondwood flare and green glass limbs. You will love your TT bow!

I much prefer the long riser as well for more mass weight and improved accuracy

Awesome Bows and by the description it sounds like it's going to be a beautiful bow. Perfect spec's also.

Perfectly happy with my 16" riser.  I dunno maybe ignorance is bliss. In any event, I'll never keep up with Keith in the bow department.

Great choice. Not to confuse you but If you're comfortable shooting longbows I'd highly recommend going with Brian's low grip. It's the perfect grip IMHO and his checkering makes it even better.......I've had both his long and short risers and my personal preference is the short riser.

Wenge and Bacote are my favorites. That should be a sweet looking bow!

No photos, yet so here are bows I have owned.

I liked all of them very much, but felt I needed to reduce my inventory. Just not enough time to shoot all the bows I had.
Personally, I liked Brian's regular grip the best. So I kept the bow on the right.

The other two may be prettier, but bottom line for me was the bow on the right just felt better to me.

Great bows and good wood combo choices also. There are a few bows I like to call "Lifers". (Bows I deem keepers for a lifetime) and the Silvertip is one of them. Post pics when you get her.

Just talked Brian into putting me on the list for a new longbow.
Gave him poetic license to build something special. My shoulders are always giving me trouble and I needed something smooth and light weight.
Besides being a master bowyer, he's one helluva great guy!

I will second all that.

I gave up trying to pick woods about 10 TallTines ago--Brian has never let me down
