I see scrapes but no rubs - what does it mean?
« on: November 01, 2007, 01:45:00 PM »
Back in the hardwood where there is always significant buck activity during the rut I have seen several new scrapes.  I know there are a few 1.5 & 2.5 yr old bucks back there and a couple mature big boys and plenty of does.  The scrapes are in the usual places as in previous years but I have yet to see and trees rubbed up.

Does a lack of tree rubs but plenty of fresh scrapes indicate anything about the mindset of the bucks right now?

i think the bucks just bed somewhere else. i find most rubs close to a bedding area and scrapes close to a travel route. but what do i know.... lol

New scrapes are getting opened up everyday right now.  Means their mind in on one thing and it ain't playen' footsie either.  Seein' rubs is cool but I don't think it is necessary or even worry about it if I don't find any. dino
