Trick or treating for venison

Well I finally got to hunt again since opening day which was 10/13 here. The weather is just starting to get right so I decided to go to my ex girlfriends families farm.I got in my tree at 6:45 which was still plenty dark and at 7:00 the action started. The first deer was a good 6 point that never got closer than 35 yards.I got to watch him rub trees and feed on acorns for a half hour but he walked away from me in his search for ladies.Bout an hour later a doe came running to me with her toungue hangig so I let her go waiting for her suitor who never joined our get together. She walked off pretty quickly. Then at 9:00 a herd of 6 doe arrived at the oak flat.I watched them feed for another half hour until 5 walked off.The one thatstayed came within 12 yards when I took the shot.I hit her a little high at the front of the tenderloin and the front half of the arrow exited her brisket. She ran 30 yards and was down, those 125 snuffers are alright by me.As i approached her I heard shuffling coming over the hill and ducked just in time to see a flock of hen turkeys approach.I shot at the biggest and managed to only graze her back. This make 4 misses on turkeys since last fall.   Im starting not to like them.Well time to butcher and get ready for tomorrow, the ruts about to kick off.

Good Story and do you know how blessed you are that an ex's family still lets you hunt their farm?

Israel, Congratulations on your deer
Hang in there and you'll connect on one of those birds yet. Good luck.

Good job. Oh, don't worry you are not the only one to miss a turkey :D
