Which Bateman tab
« on: May 03, 2017, 04:15:00 AM »
I have been reading a lot of archives about tabs,  trying to figure out which ones I want to try.  It is obvious that the Bateman tab is popular it's mentioned all the time by many.

But, which one?  Which Bateman is so good and used by many? I'm considering trying the TCSF, anybody try these?

Two models to choose from in my opinion, well I guess four depending on if you shoot split or three under. Has to be Cordovan and then there's plusses and minuses on each, kind that has leather hole your finger goes through and type that had elastic. I think I like the elastic better but the elastic deteriorates after a while, guess it could be replaced, I've just never tried. Also get a size smaller than you wear in a standard glove, like if you normally wear a mens large glove, get a medium tab and ask for the thickest one on the rack if you can. The Cordovan model will last till you lose it!

I wear Bateman tabs. I use the split finger leather model. Have had the same 4 for about 3 years. They hold up well

The cordovan tab with the finger spacer and elastic. I've used this tab for years and love it.  The elastic can be adjusted to fit over a jersey glove. TIP...keep a spare tab or two on hand they seem to get lost easily    :knothead:

same one I use...the finger loop is great as you can adjust for summer or use with gloves.  I try to keep one in backpack, one in truck plus one brand new and one used on me while hunting.  LOL  Drop them while hunting in brush, briars or leave litter and might be a while to find it especially if walking to stand in dark.   ;)

That's the one I use. Great tab but I just don't like the elastic band. I remove it and using a strip of leather and an o- ring make a ring tab.  Either way they are great and like mentioned above they are affordable so you can keep spares around in case you loose one.

I use the one same as Ron's. But i replace the elastic with paracord.

If you like a thicker tab you will be better off ordering from Bateman directly.
That way you can tell them exactly what thickness you want.
The standard tab they sellbis too thin for me.
If it doesnt matter to you it will be fine ordering from another source.
They are great tabs.

I agree, this is amazing lol. I had a feeling everybody was talking about this one when I posted originally.

I like the paracord idea, thank you all for your thoughts and ideas

To me, the bubba tab offered by this company bears a strong resemblance to the skookum cordovan tab of yesteryear.  In my opinion, the skookum (Alaskan Bowhunter Supply) was the finest tab available.  I have a tab like the one pictured above, but would be interested in the bubba cordovan one day.
