Got rid of my training wheels today!
« on: May 04, 2017, 06:39:00 PM »
Today I sold my compound bow that I haven't shot since Labor day weekend 2016. I've been wanting to get rid of it for months but was waiting for the market to be right. It felt good and no second thoughts. I'm officially committed now.
Life can be complicated. Hunting shouldn't be.

Congrats on the sale and good job on committing 100% to the trad life. There's nothing quite like it!

Welcome to the trad world.  I don't think you'll be disappointed with your decision.

Congratulations on making a decision that you are pleased with. I am not so polarized; I would never sell my compound, but just choose not to shoot it very much. I mashed my right ring finger at work and for maybe a week or so shooting my traditional gear may not be an option.  I am happy to have a back up plan if I want to see some arrows fly.

I sold the wheels thirty years ago and never looked back. I have not shot a compound since then.

I did touch one about four years ago though. It was heavy and cold.

This was one of the best things that I did, longtime ago, selling mine.  It made me commit myself more to mastering the stick and string and I never looked back.

Haven't shot a compound in since I changed 4 years ago - I won't sell mine just because of kid I take hunting and grandson. But I have zero desire to ever touch one again myself.

Congrats! That decision seemed to make me enjoy hunting and archery in general a whole lot more.
