Judo Point Adapters?
« on: June 14, 2017, 08:53:00 AM »
Does anyone know of an adapter that can be used on screw on Judos that will add weight?  I normally use 250gr points, but the heaviest Judos I could find are only 125gr.  Was wondering what you all use to up the point weight?

I add internal weights to my carbon arrows.  I believe heavier weight inserts are available for aluminum arrows.  Also, you can get screw in adapters that will allow you to use glue on points with aluminum arrows.  These adapters add weight in themselves, and I also think the glue on Judos are available in heavier weights than the screw in Judos.

McDave has it for you.  Switch to the glue on Judo's with a 125 grain broadhead adapter.  Or use the brass inserts to boost your total point weight.

I use the 135 grain glue on with the steel adapters from 3R. The adapters are available in 75, 100, and 125 grain weights. I use the 135 Judo on a 75 grain adapter giving me a 210 grain head. My bow is tuned with a 200 grain broadhead and I cannot discern any difference over the 10 grains. As a matter of opinion it appears that the 10 grain overage seems to compensate for the shorter length of the head and bring the dynamic spine of the arrow closer to the broadhead tipped arrow. They hit in the same spot for me.

What I do is use a 20 grain Grasshoppers (muzzy spring arms 3 to a pack) and add to the tip  250>>>-->225+20=245 or 250+20=270

I do like the others have mentioned and use screw on adapters with glue on judo heads. I also use field points with "tiger claw" style stoppers. Look at a tiger claw small game head. It's just the claw part and screws behind the field point. I find it works great for stumping and fits in a bow quiver with no problems. I think it would be great on small game too, with with the field point or a steel blunt of the same weight.

all insert style arrow shafts are extremely tunable for front end weight by using variable weight inserts, adapters, and points.  points can be a single weight screw-in type or for more weight range versatility use a glue in point on a screw-in adapter.  the weight range allowed is incredibly diverse and easily changed out.

as a lightweight example, a 20 grain aluminum  insert can be mated with a 100 grain screw-in steel field point.  120 grains up front.

or, a heavyweight example of a 100 grain brass insert, a 125 gain brass adapter and a 190 grain steel glue-on field point.  415 grains up front!

Thanks all for the quick reply, sounds like the glue on points with steel adapters will be the way to go.

Thanks again

Steel adapters are the ticket for me, I've gone to JB weld because hot melt glue didn't seem to hold up as well. Forewarned the 200-250 gr heads the spring arms in rocky ground don't last very long but keep 2 with me at all times.
