St Judes Flys, Brook Trout, and River Birch
« on: June 20, 2017, 10:25:00 AM »
I got my beautiful St Jude Trout flys that I won from stickhorse just in time for my fishing trip into the wilds of Northern Maine.  I've been invited as a guest to a Brook Trout camp in Northern Maine on the Canadian border this coming week. It's one of those old LL Bean camps with guides and meals all included...not my typical style of fishing but I'm sure I can take a week of pampering. I also made up a knife as a thank you for my host. Bird & Trout knife 7 1/2 inches OAL, 1084 carbon steel, River Birch stabilized with Cactus Juice compliments of Benjy.  Looking forward to seeing how those flys fool those Maine Trout.

I'll post a couple of pictures on my return just to wet y'all appetite for next years St Jude Auction...biding on stickhorse's flys and a tippit knife.

Jeff,

That is a nice looking knife.

That said, I'm more interested in some close ups of those flys.

Also, let's keep it a secret, between you and me, but I don't think Stickhorse can count very well.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

That's a fantasy batch of flies! I've used a number of those patterns over the years to fool my share of trout. Good luck on the trip! Is it all brook trout or will there be any landlocked salmon to catch?

Good luck Doc--you are going on one more of my bucket list trips. I've got my eye on a couple Hudson Bay rivers once I get these kids thru college. Can't wait for massive Brookie pics.

I agree with Steve, share some pictures of the fish caught with the St.Jude's flys when you get back.

Love the looks of those Knives.
Have Fun!!

Sorry for the counting guys, it's just that by the time I use up my fingers and get my shoes off I just loose all track of what number I was on.

Could have been the Margarita I was working on as I was loading the boxes too.
