anyone froggin?
« on: June 28, 2017, 08:26:00 PM »
Our frog season in Pennsylvania opens on July 1st and I'm itchin to chase some with my recurve. Who else has been out so far this year or is getting ready? There used to be a lot of talk about bowfroggin on here and I hope someone else is getting some action!

I've got the itch too.  I'll be frogging on the 1st up in Erie.  I even bought a new green bow for the occasion.

Evgb, good luck! That's a heck of a road trip for some frogs! I'm just outside Erie. I'm planning on hitting some ponds on some of the local gamelands. Unfortunately I don't know if ill be able to get free on Saturday or id see if we could meet up.

Never shot a frog, or gigged one either. We don't have a frog season here. I'll bet that frog master from Mississippis after them though!!!

Our season opened June 15. I took 18 that day and 9 more a few days ago.  Lots of fun and some GOOOOD eating!

Good luck, Skychief

I'm gonna give it a shot this year. I used to shoot them with .22 shot shells when we were allowed to do that. I don't think that's allowed anymore tho. They are delicious!! Here's some Pa boys going after em!

Johnny "Deadeye" you were just a junior cadet out on your first mission, and I wasn't sure you would make it.

Still not sure...

Just not many big frogs around as far as I can tell. My son and I took a bunch out of the only pond I can access and there hasn't been many there since. ok, I know of a few other public ponds but there aren't any frogs there to speak of.

Once in a while I hear a nice one on the river but you'd have to cover an awful lot of river to find a very few frogs.
