Moved to Bluffton, SC and need a Traditional fix
« on: July 27, 2017, 12:12:00 PM »
My wife and I decided to give up our 23 acre spread in Eagleville, Tn. and move to Bluffton, South  Carolina. Just starting to be more work than I really wanted to continue. We now live in Hampton Lake, a very nice subdivision just outside the small town of Old Bluffton. We are close to the Inter Coastal Waterway and that's great but I can't seem to find and traditional archery groups in the area. Anyone live nearby or know of a group I might hook up with? Need to get back into shooting form soon!

My good friend, Richard Coffield lives in Bluffton and has for over 40 years. He's a local REALTOR(May River Realty) but more of an outdoorsman. Richard and I started shooting trad at the same time back in the late '80s, he shot a Border Archery recurve and I shot a Gilbert Archery Canoochi Warrior recurve(made by Jeffries). Unfortunately Richard decided he liked his compound more. He was deadly on targets with his recurve but after 9 misses on deer he hung it up and never hunted with it again.
Richard may be able to guide you to trad shooters. He does know most of the good fishing spots in and around the May River.
Victoria Bluff WMA used to be one of my favorite hunting area. We had a 1000 ac hunt club right next to it, what is now Colleton River Plantation.
I think Andrew Harper lives in Bluffton. I used to live down the street from his Brother on Oyster Street.

Contact Andrew Harper also. I don't personally know Andrew but lots of TradGangers hunt hogs at his place in Estill, SC. Andrew owns Potato Island across and up the May River from Brighton Beach.
We lived in Bluffton from '78 until '90, when Bluffton was a quiet little 1 square mile town. It's sure changed a lot since then.
