Another hunt I'll never get to do
« on: August 16, 2017, 05:53:00 PM »
Just saw that British Columbia has ended grizzly hunting for non-residents. Really makes me sad that I'll never have the opportunity to experience a hunt like that. I don't want this to turn into an argument or anything, but I'm curious how you guys feel about it. From looking at the poll in this article, it seems pretty evenly split.

I'd think it would be less of an issue if they did not consider it a trophy hunt.

Also, I am based out of BC and havent partaken in a Grizz hunt myself.

I agree with Kevin it's easy to sway people one way or the other with crafty literature when you say trophy bear hunt what comes to my mind is just that killing a bear for a trophy and consequently what more than likely comes to a bunch of non hunters minds are the same and not that the people killing the bears will actually eat them i understand what there saying but dont agree with it i would suspect that after a few years of nobody hunting grizz and the other wildlife starts vanishing because the bears are not being managed they might reconsider just my .02

Give it a few years...and sadly, a few lost lives...and it will be open season again, and quite possibly the price might come down too.

Same here. Ever since I read Fred Bears field notes I've wanted to hunt a grizzly with my bow.
I'm hoping that like mentioned above that they will reopen it after a few years. I certainly hope that it doesn't take people being mauled in order to change it though.
