Back from South Africa
« on: August 25, 2017, 05:58:00 PM »

Just got back from South Africa and what a trip! This was my kudu. All animals were taken with my Deer Slayer model sinew backed osage bow and Grizzly broadheads on a Wilderness Custom arrow. Got a complete pass through and he went 80 yards after a heart shot. I hunted with Sofala Safaris and was impressed with the operation! This was the only animal that I took with a broadhead other than the Grizzly 185 and I used a 125 Grizzly on this one with a 100 grain woodyweight up front.

This Gemsbok went 80 yards after a double lung hit. Grizzly head centered a rib going in and still went to the other side before stopping. He went 80 yards as well and we found it the next morning. I was using 185 Grizzly heads with 100 grain woodyweights up front on Wilderness Custom Arrows except for the one hog.

This Impala was dropped in his tracks when the Grizzly head shattered the shoulder going in!

This warthog went about 100 yards after a quartering away shot took out a lung.

This was my second warthog. Took him with a Grizzly head on one of my hickory shafts, complete pass through.

Congratulations Mike, those are some nice critters.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Way to go, Mike. Nice shooting...and with a sinew backed osage bow. Well done.
What draw weight is the bow?

Happy to see these pictures Mike. What a hunt!
