classic thread sub forum?
« on: August 28, 2017, 04:44:00 PM »
i had a thought the other day about the classic tradgang threads that i have seen over the years. i sometimes go back and find them and have a read through them again. remembering the titles and finding them can be a challenge though sometimes.

so i thought, what about a section somewhere where these threads can live on and continue to be a source of enjoyment and inspiration?

defining what the criteria are for inclusion as a 'classic' would be something to be discussed.

stories like Jerry Russell's 'kong', the quest for the super hog and Kevin Dill's moose hunt strike a chord with me. there are others too.

i thought with the upcoming forum changes it might be something good. your thoughts? what are your 'classics'?

It's a shame how that thread has been affected by the photobucket bomb...

So how do threads get qualified and added to the Archives? Clint mentions Kevin Dill's moose hunt and that one surely must make the cut to be added. The last Hunting Archive thread was November of last year and the last Memorable Hunt was 2012.

Great question!

I'd take the initiative to run this past Terry and Rob.   We gotta keep on preserving the moments!

There is no formal cut to be made....

there is no criteria formaly written down ...

look at the dates of the last ones added of when they were started you will see many many threads for many many years have not been added due to the fact that I don't have time anymore ....

I used to go through every single thread for a year on occasion and move threads to the proper archive ...I would look at every single page coming forward chronologically.

I haven't done it in probably 3 years or 4 years because I don't have time to do those things anymore ....everything is so time-consuming as it is...

so don't be offended if your thread is not there ...it's simply because we're doing other things and can't sit at home for a week and look at every single thread from the past.

Hopefully one day I can get back to it and move other threads from where I left off.... that would be nice if that were to happen...

my life would definitely be much more simple....back to the good I'll days.

And please don't ask me to move these two threads or any other threads or ask anyone else to. I do not want to jump ahead of any other threads they're just as important as these....it has to be done in a chronological order to be done correctly.... thank you

And there won't be any moving of stuff until we get converted... the system has been converting for over a week and we're not going to screw that up by moving threads around and possibly losing them completely ...at the moment they are preserved right here on the Powwow so it's best to leave well enough alone at this point
