Easy rust removal for broadheads
« on: September 01, 2017, 06:17:00 PM »
I knew I kept my son's old rock tumbler around for a reason! Added some sand and after a couple hours all the rust was off my old Howard Hill heads. Of course, it'd be best not to let it happen in the first place, but since it did....

I have always used steel wool and then just re-sharpened. If a point is heavily rusted, I throw it out.

I've been using a couple different rust remover solutions. One is called Evapo Rust and it works well, you just have to let it soak for a hood long while. Like several days. A quick wir brush and all rust is gone. Rinse and oil well.

That's as about as simple as you can get. They look really good! You already had the rock polisher so why not? Good job.

Good idea.

I've used a low pressure fine media sand blaster before.
Your way keeps the sand outta the eyes..lol
