I was up there the second weekend, but never hunted. Temps and humidity in the upper 80's. Last weekend the cooler weather moved in, and it was beautiful. Passed on a 6pt. and a few small does. Turkeys "everywhere". Should be back out there around the 10th. Luck to all.

I haven't been out as often as I would like. Noticed a few scrapes and rubs that fired me up a bit. I have a week off coming up and plan to be out every day.  Remember that the youth hunt is this weekend and the disability hunt also starts this weekend where applicable.

Made my first hunt the other night.  The incoming storm and the rain most would find discouraging.  It was good to get out as I needed the therapy.  I saw a couple wood peckers.

I had a couple yearlings walk past at 8 yards last night. No momma!  I didn't notice nubs.

After pulling the chips in the trail cameras I noticed we have a  coyote problem.  There are 7 in one photo alone.

Excellent weekend this past weekend minus the weather lol.

had a break in the Showers and went to the stand. had a  doe and fawn feeding right behind me when the lightning started. I snuck out and made it back to the cabin wet.

This morning the wind was ripping and the rain coming in sideways. We opted to get chores done around the cabin instead.  about 7:00 my little brother and I decided to gather some black walnuts below the cabin and we saw two bucks chasing each other.  After they departed another 6 point and spike came out and were browsing about. the spike buck walked to within 8 yards of us and we were only armed with a bucket of walnuts lol.

After that grabbed the bow and a tree stand my brother wanted to set and slowly walked the edge of the corn field. slipped to within 50 yards of a doe and fawn but couldnt close the gap as they were walking the other way faster than I could stalk.

In all my dad, brother and I saw 14 deer this past weekend. Not to shabby in the least.  Scrapes popping up everywhere at that farm.  Rut is approaching which is a very exciting time there.

I was back up the 13,14 and 15. Only hunted Fri. nite and Sat morn, then the rains came. Got winded on both sits by two does. Those pesky ENE winds.

Sat last Sunday and had a doe and two fawns fly through the plum trees I was sitting in. No shot opportunity. About twenty minutes later I had a very old buck within 20 yards for about fifteen minutes, but he didn't ever turn broadside.  In fact he knew something wasn't right and faced me staring the entire time. This buck is now a basket six pointer but I almost came unglued as he is probably the largest bodied deer I have ever laid eyes on. His face is almost all grey, missing an ear, huge sway back, I don't think I ever wanted to harvest an animal more. He won this time!!!

Have not seen a deer in the woods all week. Fresh beds under my stand yesterday   :banghead:

Should have been out this morning. Deer are out and about according to reports from friends.

Hunted last Monday in Bayfield county did not see anything. Heading out today to check a couple of cameras, looks like rain but that's ok as it washes away my scent. Good luck to all you other cheese heads. Should be a great year in the north.

Well...... guess you should install an elevated platform right there then !  Good luck, things are changing any day now.  Been seeing scrapes now, though very few fresh rubs.  I know that there are (were ?) at least two hard antlered bucks in the general area that I hunt... saw them.

I was up again from the 19th-22nd. Warm weather was back, but in S.E. Shawano Co. the color and smell was wonderful. Deer movement wasn't there. A spike chasing a doe Fri. morn was it in 5 sit's. Rain moved in Sunday morn. Won't be back until early Nov. rut will be on. I'm ready. Luck to all.
