Blacktail bows
« on: September 23, 2017, 02:06:00 PM »
Has anyone had an opportunity to test-drive Blacktail's Sitka recurve or their takedown longbow? I'm leaning toward the longbow because that's what I now shoot, but haven't ruled out the Sitka quite yet.
I don't like to make a bow purchase before handling one, but sometimes we have no choice. Pics and/or opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have owned both the Elite VL in 62" and the 60" Sitka. I preferred the Sitka.  I found it more pointable having the deflexed riser and a little more forgiving.  The Sitka also felt more comfortable to draw at 29ish draw length vs the 62 VL.  .  If I were to get another VL it would have to be 64".  For some reason I also found the Sitka a little easier to get quiet.  I can't see any negatives to getting one of the new 3pc longbows.  To me the only justification for getting one of the curves would be if you want to have those curves.  There is something alluring about a handsome recurve for sure.  Have fun.

I presently own both a sitka and a one piece longbow. I love them both but am hunting this year with the longbow. The longbow shoots incredibly well. Smooth, fast and best of all accurate. I can't notice a big difference between that and my Sitka which is very quick. I can't post pictures here but will send some if you want. pm me if you want.

I've owned the Elite VL in 62 also (Lefty). I have two Sitkas, one is 56" regular and the other a 58" T2Sitka.  These are my favorite bows of more than 30 different customs I've owned.

I love the grip, the performance, and of course the appearance cannot be topped, especially in the T2 versions.

If I buy another bow it will be another T2.  I may find out on October 2nd if three fingers on the bow string are going to continue to be possible for me.

I'm a recurve fan and have no experience with LBs.
