What a day!!! Prettiest day I could have ask for. My daughter passed on a monster 8 point ( see my other thread) 30 minutes later I had a 15 yard shot at a decent little 6 point , arrow deflected on the only branch within 50 yards ( Murphy's law lol )at last second for a clean miss. I ended up getting my first trad harvest on a small doe at about 3 pm.
I know PA has some archaic laws ( no Sunday hunting) but I was thinking all day yesterday about how blessed I am to live here. I was hunting an SGL that I think is 16k acres ( if memory serves) and I saw four other vehicle all day. Never saw another hunter and there are LOADS of deer. Nearly a ridiculous amount. Ton of great bucks and it's like having a personal hunting preserve!!! I'm seeing more world class deer this year than I have in 30 years of hunting.
I read some of these post and feel really bad for the guys that don't have these opportunities. I can't imagine living in a state that had no public land to speak of ( Texas) or living in a place that I had to hunt all day all season to see a deer or two!!
I could nearly guarantee a chance at a deer in one day of hunting. Granted , I'm in the woods scouting every day but I thank god every day for the beautiful mountains and the abundant game that lives in them. It's pretty easy to take it for granted , then I read some of these forums and realize how lucky I am to know that if I go to one of my spots I'm sure I'm going to see deer!!
