Kyle, we'll expect a story with each pic. Doe or not a trad kill deserves attention to detail! Congrats
Lol, not a lot to tell really. I hunted a little acorn flat between two bedding areas that morning, expecting to catch a few filtering through. But I got shut out.
I didn't really have a better option for the northerly wind that evening (early season I had been scouting spots expecting a southerly wind) so I decided to go back, not expecting much.
About 6:30 I saw the deer pop over a ridge, and she came right to me, beginning to browse for acorns about 30 yards out, and staying in close for the next several minutes, though I could never get a shot...either out of my range (20 and umber for me) or at a bad angle.
Finally she walked under my tree, so I shifted my feet hoping to find a shot as she angled away. She got broadside at about ten yards, but as I came to full draw she took a couple steps, quartering away, so adjusted and let the goldtip and Simmons head fly, the arrow entering around the last rib and lodging in the off shoulder.
She made a mad dash for about 50 yards and crashed.
