BW PCH talk me down!!!!
« on: October 15, 2017, 07:23:00 PM »
I have never owned a BW before. I have hunted with a bear grizzly forever. I've had other custom bows in the past but I have always shot the grizzly better. I am seriously considering a 58" pch.

someone please give me pros and cons over the bear...

im a 29" draw if that is a factor to consider

There are no cons....I've had every bow imaginable but when it's time to hunt I grab my 58" pch...it's a hunting machine

I had two, they were very good bows. Probably some of the best.  No problems at all. I kinda wish I kept one of them. If you want one you won't shake it so get one!!
I found they were just a little heavier to carry than I cared for and have gone in the opposite direction preferring the slim lightness of a one pc rf/df long bow.

Really nice hunting bows. Very versatile and they have a great shooting platform, as well as a great company backing them up.

One of the best bows I've ever owned. The only reason that I got rid of mine was because I won a free Widow for biggest bear in camp. I chose a KB which is another great bow. I'm sorry that I sold my PCH. No real cons

Sean, how do you like the KB compared to the PCH?

Great shooting bows, short sight window and longer limbs means smooth.

He is correct about the short sight window. I forgot but do recall an occasional blocked arrow flight/impact.

It's pretty close for me. The KB is lighter mass weight but the PCH being a take down makes it more convenient. Love them both

Ive owned a good many bows since going traditional from metal risers like the pse coyote to bear grizzly's, zipper, kanati, black canyon, damon howatt, samick, etc etc.  Ive stopped messing around with anything but widows. I currently own a 60" PA and a 60"PTF. The ptf has become my go to bow. To me, widows are just better than anything else out there (for me). I love the high mass weight, heavy pre load, smooth draw, and high brace height.  Plus they absolutely slam a heavy arrow into a target. The asbell grip is my favorite btw

A bit heavier in the hand compared to your Bear, other than that both good bows. Every PCH I ever shot I shot well. I do like a lighter bow in mass but that is just me.

I had one made from Black and White Ebony and was the best looking bow I ever owned, but the sight window was a little short for me so I sold it. I had a curly maple PAX that I shot much better and wound up selling that to Blueridge. The bow that I have kept and will keep is my Tall Tines.
As Stan stated, I'd call and get a test drive bow and know for sure before I spent money.
Lefties are the only ones who hold the bow in the right hand.

I have a PCH and a KB. Absolutely the finest quality recurves I have ever owned.

You cannot go wrong. Great product, great company, great folks running it.

By the way, I highly recommend the Asbell grip. Fits me like a glove.

Try to shoot one first. I have shot and owned a lot of different bows including widows. They are a great quality bow but I have yet to find one I like. They just don’t fit me right. They sure are making some good looking ones.

I never cared for the looks of them. The risers look to big. But I decided to shoot some at Denton Hill this summer to see what the big following was about. I shot a 62" PAS. Carrying it out to the practice range I thought man this is heavy. Didn't like that. Then I shot it. Shot 7 arrows and pulled them out with one hand. I looked at my buddy and said" what's up with that? I don't shoot that good." He said it's the mass weight. Now I'm saving my money. I shot several of their bows. I liked them all but I kept going back to the PAS. I'm still not sure I can be happy with that heavy of a bow. I might call and do,a test run for a week before I drop $1100.

Do,you widow guys mind that weight?
Jim
