I finally got to get back in the tree, it has been a long fall with school and all and I haven't got to hunt near as often as I am used to.
I went to a little pinch point between bedding and fields that i have been wanting to sit in for a while now. I was not disappointed. Saw several deer, even a buck with his nose glued to a does butt. One doe in particular was absolutely huge, and i decided that despite it being pre-rut that if i got a chance on her i would take it.
Luckily it must have just been meant to be. She made her way to my little pinch and offered me about a 17 yard shot. I had to twist around the tree awkwardly as she was behind me, but it all worked out just fine. The hit was low and tight, and that grizzly broadhead sure did a number on her.
I got down to follow probably the best blood trail i have ever seen for about 100 yards, she was laying at the end of the trail. My wife is as excited as i am, we have figured out the great wonder of a crockpot and the deer stews that come with it.
I had just sent out Hope to Bisch the morning before, so unfortunately I didnt get to add another one to her tally. Im sure Bisch will make it up to her, lol.
I was using a new Omega Native that i had just received from Kegan two or three days prior, Its 41@28 and 56" AMO. I am incredibly impressed with this little bow, shoots every bit as smooth as a 64" bow.
I was excited to get her broke in, as i am heading for a week in the Ohio rut starting next week. I am hoping this is only the beginning.
Good luck the rest of this fall guys! Remember to aim small.
