String maker decision

Having the hardest time trying to choose between a SBD 6 strand and a hunters choice X string.

Anyone had both?

buy both!     :wavey:

...then you will be able to discern the difference, if any...and will be uniquely qualified to recommend.    :archer:

Been buying SBD strings for awhile now and couldn't be happier with them.  Great man to deal with too.

I replaced the original string on a Shrew Classic Carbon with a SBD-6 a while back and it was quieter and a definite performance increase. I have since ordered some Ten Ring strings and the quality is excellent as well.

I am sure any of the Trad Gang Sponsers here make a superb quality string. No doubt about that.

I have had excellant overall results with SBD.So its hard for me to spend $ on other stringmakers strings.I am on a budget. So I can't judge other custom strings against the SBD to be fair.I do like the 8 strand personally with wool or acrylic puffs.Gotta have the puffs!Eight strand is a happy medium between the 6 and 10 strand.A bit more strength and wear resistance.

The last one I bought very recently was put on a 1960 Kodiak replica.I had tried 5 strings on the bow from my stash. All good strings. The 4 FF strings were not quite satisfactory on the bow.The B-50 it came with was overall the best no doubt on this particular bow.

So I shot the B-50 for quite awhile and it was fine.Quiet and pleasant shooting.A little thump to the shot.

So I finally got the SBD string on it a couple weeks ago.Awesome tranformation really. The sixty inch 1960 Kodiak is a super fine bow.My favorite Bear. With this SBD string on it its world class in my opinion.

I've tried just about every string maker I can think of except  Tenringstrings. That being said, they are all quality stings.
But in the end I was super impressed with HCBstrings!!
Consistency and quality is top notch and Daniel is a great guy.
We are not only friends but we have a great working relationship!  I put his strings on every one of my bows!
If I did not like or trust the quality I would not do so, but we'd still be friends!    :biglaugh:

Another vote for Ten Ring Strings. Ordered two sets for my Robertson Prairie and would recommend Allens' work without hesitation.

We are sure lucky to have so many great string makers on this site. I can personally vouch for Hunters choice strings and HBD strings. Sorry Allen, have not had the pleasure to try yours yet but it don't look like you need my praise. Great job guys!
