Handcrafted trad gear
« on: January 26, 2007, 08:01:00 PM »
I have had a overwhelming urge to make a lot of my own trad gear, and maybe even do it to sell a few of them, or trade things. What all kinds of things do u fellows make?

Also, does anyone know where to get affordable leather? I would like to try my hand at making knives, that "show me your knife thread inspired me." Some beautifull works, there's something about a knife also, something soulfull about it.

I make my bows from wood, my arrows from hardwood shoots, trade points from old saw blades and I assemble strings from bought string material and friends make stone heads for me. I have also made knives, sheaths and arrow quivers.    Pat

John, I'll bet that, among the folks on this site, there is nothing left to make that they don't already.  Many, maybe most are very willing to teach others how to do it !

There is a ton of information and knowledge...and history, available right here on this site.  Did you look at the "how to" section off the main forum page ?

Oh ya, I looked at the how to section a lot. I am just curious as to what everyone here does (makes). Osagetree you are my new hero, I want to make things like you do someday, out of what u find and not bought at the store. You have inspired me, and probabally many others to do that also. I am going to try to make a tube quiver. When I get my taxes back I am going to invest it into tools and maybe some leather and metal to do knives. This place is the best!

People here make everything from the bow and arrows to the equipment needed to make the bow and the arrows and everything in between and after that. Whatever you're interested in making, I'm sure someone here can help you.
