I'm sure most everyone here knows or has seen Pat Kelly' ( Pdk25) post! He is consistently killing animals and has one of the sweetest collection of beautiful bows I've personally seen!
He definitely has an eye for wood combos!
So when he asked me about making him a bow I knew it was going to be a challenge live up to his expectations, but I like a good challenge!! We conversed back and for for a while tossing wood combos around and narrowed it down to a few choices. He already had an amazing set of spalted mango veneers from IdahoCurt that he wanted to use in this bow.
We live a little over 4 hours apart and decided to meet up halfway so he could personally inspect some pieces I had picked out and make a final decision. After he so graciously bought me breakfast we laid everything out on the tailgate and started playing with the combos.
Didn't take long for him to narrow it down to a combo of stabailized walnut burl and some stabilized black palm in the riser. He also opted for Kudu horn overlays!
Here are a few pics of how it's coming together.
Everything compliments well with each other without being to subtle or overpowering the other!!
I think he absolutely nailed it!!! What do y'all think!
