Ok, I’ll recount the story real quick while I have a break at work.
Friday mid day I arrived back at camp when nature called. So I took a walk in the woods.
About the time I was getting ready to head back to camp I see something move off in the distance. My first thought was “dang, I left my bow at camp”! Then i get a better look and see Daniel and Jacob walking toward me at an angle . They are a good 75-100 yards off and haven’t seen me yet.
So just standing there i let out a pig squeal!! ( now, I’ve practiced this squeal and it is very convincing)
They freeze in their tracks and look my direction! At this point I realize I’ve got them!! Hook, line, and sinker!!
They intently study the brush from several angles but can’t see anything. As they begin to take a few steps I let out another squeal, this one longer and more drawn out. Daniel is in full attack mode and starts to inch toward me while still trying to locate the hog he knows he heard. All the while I am trying my best to not bust out laughing!!
After several intense seconds they decided there isn’t anything there so They begin to walk off. So kneel down and really start to ramp things up !! I squeal and grunt and rake leaves around !! I can tell Daniel is getting flustered because he can’t see anything but he know he heard a hog! He starts to slowly stalk my direction again!! At this point they are about 50-60 yards off and I can’t take it anymore!! I bust up laughing and wave my hat so they can see me! The look on his face was priceless!!
I swear he almost asked me if I had seen the hog he just heard!!
These are the things that make hunts so fun and memorable!! 20 years from now we probably won’t remember who shot what but I guarantee we will remember all the fun we’ve had!!
