Tru-center Taper Tool
« on: December 27, 2017, 04:31:00 PM »
I have an old style truck-center taper tool. I need to replace the blades on it but I can't find any that will fit. The new tru-center tool (V2) blades will not fit it. Any idea where I can get replacement blades for the old style tool?

Thanks!!

I too have the original , I touched them up once on a stone, held them with a pair if vise grips. Just s few very light passes, seemed to work.
I see the original company that made the tool went out o business hence the v2.
I tried a quick search w/o luck. You and I may have to upgrade

Been looking for a substitute as well. Besides the tool itself I have adapters so I can use my drill motor to turn them. Cost more than the tool itself.

I asked the same question here a couple of years ago here, not long after the new V2 came out - no luck. Called around, still nothing. Sharpening is the only option, and not real easy, for me.

Thanks! I was afraid that would be the answer.

Actually, the V2 is pretty reasonable, all things considered. Plus, new blades are readily available.

Sounds like time for an upgrade.

I have the original tool also. Good news is looks like the footwork to find replacement blades has been  done... the bad is will have to replace it someday too.

If you buy a new tool consider the Bear Paw taper tool. Billet aluminum machined to precision. Best taper tool I've used and I have had a few.

Don't know how old your tool is but back in the day we would adapt Schick injector razor blades. Good luck finding any of those now.
