Thank you Joel Turner
« on: December 30, 2017, 03:04:00 PM »
Just want to give a Big Thank You to Joel Turner. I have struggled with the short draw bug for a long time. I have talked to Joel on the phone and attend his seminars at Kalamazoo as well .Also studied His you tube videos for a long time . Finally got a handle on my shooting. I can come to full draw know with out a problem. It took me a long time to get the right montra to work for me. Tried a clicker a few years ago but it did not work then. Retried the clicker by putting Velcro on the clicker part to just feel a slight thud. Know all I do is come to full draw pull my shoulder blades together until I feel the thud and in my mind say pull, and the arrow is gone. I can stop at any time I want to . Before I draw I just say to myself I am only going to shoot this arrow if it is perfect or I am going to start over. I am lucky enough to have a heated pole barn to practice . I can shoot about seven yards. I also have a small 3D course set up that I can shoot as far as I want. I am know putting klickers on all my bows. I can only use a klicker if it muffled. This new to me way of useing what Joel teaches has really worked for me . I have been using this for about three months and it is really clicking for me. Shooting has been so much fun . Thank you Joel so much for all you teach and takeing your time to help me over the phone as well. Also I want to thank All of Tradgang for the input by so many of all of you that I could not even begin to thank all of you. So may God Bless each and every one of you . Happy New Year to All  . Thanks again Joel. God Bless , Don

I’ve got to say X2!!!!

Back in September I took the leap and purchased his online program. Since then I have been shooting with a clicker, and playing with what method best fit me. I came to realize one of the things I love about traditional archery is the simplicity. For me, keeping the shot fluid and less target style keeps it simple. So implemting Joel’s shifting gears method has really been awesome. I have never been so consistent with a trad now than I am now. When I get busy and don’t shoot for a few days, my shooting doesn’t suffer near as bad. My first shots on target have much improved too.

Joel has always answered emails and phone calls, and is a great guy. I hope I can make it to one of his seminars this year.

Great program. But neither of those methods works for me (no tab sear, no feather to nose,no other sear) and I will never ever install a klicker. I will leave that for the Olympic crowd.
I stay with my fluid style or hold up and draw style depending on situation and this is good enough to kill animals. Program gave good insight though.

I bought Joel's course a few months ago. It is terrific. It really helped me understand what's going on during my shot. I couldn't make the immersion course this year and I still need to work on the steps but after some training time with Tom Clum, Sr. a few months ago, I've been working on putting the two together. I can't wait for Tom's video course to get released! I'll be the first one to buy it!

Anyway, I'm looking forward to putting these skills to work on some hogs and turkeys in a few weeks.

Here's to hoping I can post some successful pix!

Seems there are more and more threads about Joel and his methods. I bet that is because they work for most people, I know his approach helped me a bunch.

I needed help, and bought his "Iron Mind" DVD about 3 years ago.  Best purchase I made, and wish I had this info 40 years ago.  For my "ok to shoot" trigger, I needed to add a short, tall piece of feather which touches my nose when at full draw, as the regular feathers were a bit low.  I find I need to replay his "method" regularly in my mind, as I can quickly resort to poor form/results if I don't work thru the steps.
