Bear Quest 12
« on: January 03, 2018, 12:31:00 AM »
23 weeks to go.
This is going to be my second year of Bear Quest and I'm already anxious.
I'm hoping to have my new Javaman Helms Deep buy the time I get to the hunt.
This old fart doesn't get very excited much any more, but I'm counting the days.     :jumper:

I really wish I could have made it this year. Not going to be the same without Bowdoc. I will be up there in the near future so I can have my moment for him. I'll have to see what I have in time off and maybe do a bait run with Tom.

23 weeks.....I can't wait and I look forward to meeting you, Graps.

I recently built myself a new bow for this trip.  A reverse handle ASL all in osage.

Bowdoc will certainly be missed.

Will be my first year. The whole reason I signed up was to get the bowdoc experience. Still excited about it though. Will see if a new bow can be fit in prior.

That would be nice, but I don't think I'll be too choosy.

It's coming.
Cool thing, I was wanting to get a couple more Thermacells and the sports shop near me just had them for 40 percent off.
How can you beat that?

I'm getting the one piece 52" all Birdseye maple.
He will be starting it this week I believe.
I'm hoping to get it in time to get it all tuned in and bring it along.

I wish I was going to be using my new javaman on bear quest 12. I hope to get back up there but it’s not in the cards this year. It won’t be the same without bowdoc but I am sure glad I got to meet him!

Tom - I sure hope my next pic of that bow is with a bear.  Maybe that big one I flirted with all week two years ago is still around and even bigger.

I'm sure there will be plenty of Bow Doc stories to share.  I really wanted to share camp with him again.

Sure a good picture of Bow Doc.

One word for you Graps...Jealous!  I am not hunting bear this year after going three straight years.  So I am jealous.

I enjoy every single facet of bear hunting from deciding on where to go, what tackle to use,  supplies, traveling, all of it.

Have fun!

As crazy as BowDoc was he could tell great stories about bowhunting history and hunting. I learned a bunch from him and will never forget our conversation after I killed my bear. I was almost in tears......as I am as I type this. He also got me into Bear Take Downs......and I'm glad he did. You folks are going have a ball.
