Well, I was looking at 3Rivers at the Magnus small game blunts....You know the ones with the bleeder blades... And I was thinking WOW!!! Deem heads sure look like they would put a hurting on a squirrel... But at $3.33 each I might as well use a cheap broadhead instead....
Well, I got to thinkin and crunching da numbers and came out with the same BH that only will cost us $1.13 each to make per head..
First ya order a pack of blunts(12 for $3.65) and Bear bleeder blades (10 for $7.90).
cut a nice deep knotch right down through the end of da blunt about 1/16 deep with a drimel tool. Slide the blade into the notch and make a mark with a pen where the rear of the bleeders will snap into the sides of the blunt. Then cut the side knotches.   After that I checked for fit and put some JD Weld in there to keep the blade from ever coming out even though they snapped in pretty good..
Took me less than a minute to do the whole thing...... And looks like it'll do the same job at 1/3 the price.... Can't beat that for one minutes work...  :wavey:

a .38 pistol cartridge; glued onto a wood shaft; with a small nail driven through the side of the case; and bent back a little- works pretty cheap too.
Where I hunt; there are rocks everywhere; and I use rubber blunts.
THE VOICES HAVEN'T BOTHERED ME SINCE I STARTED POKING THEM WITH A Q-TIP.

Like you just mentioned, the time tested blunt/pistol casing with bleeder has always been a favorite of mine (course, I usually just use sharpened C-clips or banding material in place of commercial bleeders). Another favorite is a sharpened wingnut behind a target tip...

hey string cutter long time no see...
check out Tom Musatto's website, he has a great tutorial on making those little heads.  i got a squirrel last week with a nutter but it was pretty close range and a good hit to the vitals, i also sharpen the first 1/2 inch or so to a point.  i like the 38 with the bleeder much better.  they do a lot of damage and take care of business.

i'm headin' out tomorrow afternoon to chase some squirrels myself.   :)

good luck,
kyle

I glue a 1/2 inch nut on a field point. Works very well delivering shock to a small varmit

Nutter's are just hex nuts screwed on the end of a shaft...

I just made some "grabbers" buy taking regular glue on field tips and fraying the shaft end with some side cutters.

Haven't tried them on rabbits yet, but will soon!

I love those "grabbers". Basically a homemade gamenabber blunt...

I use 5/16 coupling nuts that have been put in a vise and a round rotary file chucked in a drill used to hollow one of the threaded ends so that the edges are sharp kinda like a hex blunt then you just screw it on your point taper  95 cents each

How about some pics of all these home made point ideas?
