A few years ago I hunted bears in Saskatchewan
at Walter's Wilderness Camp.
Walter started a dozen or more stories with "Roger says...."
RIP

I met Roger many, many years ago at the Dixie Deer Classic. He had me do the 'penetration test' that I'm assuming he did at all the events he went to. The penetration test was to push a modular broadhead through some kind of tanned skin and then do the same with the Snuffer. The Snuffer went through effortlessly and the modular head either would not go through or it took a great amount of effort to do(I don't remember its been so long ago). That sold me on Snuffer broadheads.

I was also impressed by how much of a down to earth guy he was. Here I was a novice bowhunter and he was talking to me just like I was his equal. Definitely made an impression on me.

I ordered some Snuffers later and also wrote him a note asking questions about the snuffer and how it would work with the equipment I was shooting. Roger wrote me a lengthy letter giving me some details on some of his kills and advice. I have never forgotten that either.

Ryan and family - my most sincere condolences to you and your family. Prayers for peace in this trying time are on the way.

Wally

Sincere condolences and prayers to the Rothaar family.  I enjoyed reading Roger's literary work "In Pursuit of Trophy Whitetails" years ago, and hearing about, and learning from his whitetail exploits. He rests with many other greats who individually and collectively sparked this incredible interest in so many of us to pursue this path of traditional archery and bowhunting.

Am still in shock. Ryan called me early yesterday. He was my best friend for 49 years and I’ll dearly miss him. We had many great hunts together.

RIP the Whitetail Master, Roger Rothhaar.

Prayers to Ronald and Ryan and families.

One of my favorite possessions are my books by Mr. Rothaar... In my "Whitetail Magic" he inscribed.... "May the magic of the whitetail forever enrich our lives" and signed it. What a wonderful way to look at this great endeavor. To be so accomplished yet so enthused and engaged.

My condolences to his whole family.... wish I had the chance to meet him. What a neat legacy for them. Something to aspire to!

Prayers going up for the Rothhaar family. Like many here, I met Roger in the 80's when it seems like a lot of the "Whitetail Magic" we all long for began. He was doing a whitetail seminar here and I had a full time taxidermy shop at the time, I was doing a "field care" seminar. Roger at that time was also doing his own taxidermy. Very friendly and easy to talk to, we talked deer hunting and taxidermy every time we ran into each other after that. He will be missed but always remembered.
