I Got A New Bow" Pika" PHOTOS ADD
« on: February 23, 2018, 08:05:00 PM »
I will do photos later !!!

I am setting up a new "Pika" from Dan Toelke.  The bow is
56" 38# @ 28"  my draw is 28 & 1/2 used to be 29.  So I think I'm going closer to 41 # I have been using Axsi 500 with 145 Target Point.  Bare shaft points far right but straight up and down. With
5 inch feathers no problem straight in and on spot.  I'm thinking I should go to "traditional only" by 3 rivers archery  600. But I don't know if I would have trouble with the field points & Zwickey to blade 135 gr. broadhead.

I've been using carbons for a long time.  I don't really want to go back to aluminum.  But if someone thinks that is wise, I will.  I don't want to load it up on the business end.  Is there someone that has a bow in like # that could give me some advice before I make that decision.

I really like the bow, quiet, smooth, very nice draw, no stacking. One thing about it, it's more accurate then me. Which makes it nice
 and fun to shoot.

Thanks ahead of time !

I think 600s ought to work very well.  I usually shoot 500s for bows more in the 45-47# range.

I dont bare shaft but I would think 600s would be the choice. I've done well with them from low end 45 lb bows

Here are the photos I said I would do !  BUT Photos cannot do this bow justice, Dan's  and Jared’s work is fabulous.  I used arrows that were too stiff for the bow.  But, the Pika handled them well.  I had 8” groups.  I talked today to Dan and he said I would have 4” groups if I get the right arrows.( 600 )  tuned to the bow.   Again I cannot say enough about the accuracy, smoothness, quietness of this bow.  You can really tell that a lot of workmanship and talent was put into this, Can I say “work of art and skill call a bow.  Both of them have been given the Fantastic talent.  One thing I really like about it also is how the wood (mango) is such a natural camouflage.

And if you call to talk to Dan about a bow,  asked him about his hundred yard dash with the BEAR  !!!
That was caused by a rock !

Superb!  I've owned a couple Pikas and they are one of the best shorties around!

I have had a 62"  "Whip"  from Dan years ago, this "Pika" shoots like a 62".  But I sure do like to shortness of it 56"  it's very quiet, and very accurate, and as is very smooth draw.  I did not put it through a chronol, but it just seems faster then I 38 # bow.  I have no idea how Dan does it.  But that's why he is in the business and I am not.

I just appreciate his talent and abilities.  If I ever lost this one for some reason, I would not hesitate to buy another "Pika" from him.

Okay, okay,  I am a lightweight, to some  but, I like getting close, discipline, 5,10,12 yards. 15 !!!!  MAX.    It's the excitement of being close enough to count the eyelashes !!!!    Close enough to hear them breathing when they are behind you.   It's not always about putting meat in the cooler. Discipline discipline discipline.  It makes a difference for both the huner and the game.  If you're close enough to hear the arrow breaks a hide it disciplines you to take a good shot. It makes you think about every action you're taking to put down game.

BUT each to his own, we all hunt differently.  But it always should be ethical and humane.
