Bad News Good News

     I have been shooting a Ben Pearson hunter for about 5 years. Last week I picked up the bow for a afternoon hunt and the top limb was warped.I not sure what caused it but to make matters worse I had to nice bucks hanging out in the back paster all week. Now the good news, I placed a order with Dan Toelke for a new recurve. He said bow would be ready by the first of Dec. I feel like a kid waiting on Santa. Ijust had to share that Thanks for a great forum.   :D

If it isn't wharper too bad you might try to straighten it youself.  Heat the wharped place under hot water on use the wife's heating pad to warm the limbs and then reverse the wharped area a bit beyond straight and have someone turn on the cold water while you hold it under the tap in the slightly more than reversed position.  Hold it til cooled.  It may take a few tries to get it right.  Maybe you can still hunt between now and the new bow's arrival.   Hope this helps.  Bill

I believe most of the twisted limbs come from either operator error while stringing; or leaving the bow leaning against a wall; and sitting on a limb tip.

I hang my bows when strung; on a deer rack; so the preasure is on the string only. When unstrung; I lay the bow over the rack - never leave it sitting limb point down anywhere.

I am ready to stand corrected on this; but its been my observation...
THE VOICES HAVEN'T BOTHERED ME SINCE I STARTED POKING THEM WITH A Q-TIP.

Bill i give that a try. Brian you could be right , I' v had it hung by the string. It was build in 1965 my dad got it used and it stood in the closet as long as i remember.

To bad about the bow but you will love the Toelke recurve. I spent today with a 52" 48@28 recurve Dan made for me. No deer, but had a buck 10 yards off for 5 minutes chalenging Buckie. He just would not step clear of the willows!
