UPDATE 1 - Getting close to cutover time
« on: February 26, 2018, 07:00:00 PM »
... for the new Trad Gang server home.

So far the testing of the converted Trad Gang on the new server has gone very well.  A number of prime features have been tested, such as image and file attachments within posts, embedded post videos, paid subscriptions, thread hover text views, a far better internal search engine, up/down page links, lots of options for posting, lots of member profile options, and other stuff i've already forgotten - there's been a lot to do over the last few weeks!

The main hurdle of getting y'all over in one piece has been a success, and that includes Contributor 2018 members, who will have instant classifieds access as they do right now.

NOTE: Logging into the new forum is either using your current login name or registration email address.  Your current password is still required.  The first time you login you will be required to enter your password again.

NOTE:  All of your PM's (if you have any) will be in your PM profile!  The conversion finds them even if you think you've deleted them!  In my case I had close to 2000!  I deleted them all.

NOTE: While you can immediately create threads and posts, you should go to your profile and look at the options - there are more than a few, and at least one or two you will want to set.

NOTE: You can now put images and files that exist on you computer or mobile device right into your posts.  This Attachment system is built into the forum software, you no longer have a need for imgur or photobucket or any online image archive.  To see how to do this right now, I created a screen capture video where i made a post and added two images right inside the post.  This video will be online in the new system as part of a new Trad Gang board (forum) that will be a place to go to find at least some help and answers for newbies to the new forum software.  For those interested, here's that post images attachment video that was just created in the new Trad Gang server test system ...

More Trad Gang cutover updates to come ...

creating threads and posts will be the same, the rest is all in really productive features.  we're having some pre-cutover fun putting video screens inside of posts.  that kind of interactive sharing is just awesome - no need to go over to youtube and other video sites, they come into trad gang for instant viewing, along with any of your posted commentary.

To think this old coot may one day post a pic. Great job to all involved but next time you post an important thread Rob, hide the hog pic that beast is distracting!   :clapper:

Honestly, the thanx goes out to all you folks who have hung in there for so long with all the issues we've had with this move - we could not be poised for this move without all your support.

And first and foremost to the visionary, Mr. Terry Green, who one day, about 15 years ago, had a grand idea for a far better cyber camp that was 101% dedicated to traditional bowhunting - and here it is, thanx to him and ... you all.

Thank you friends.     :wavey:

I am one of the most basic users on Trad Gang, but have had no trouble at all moving around and doing stuff on the new site. Most of the other testers are more technical than me and can get into more detailed discussions than I can; however, the membership will like what has been produced. It is a more robust system and is easy to use. If you have spent time on the Black Powder forum, a lot of things will look familiar. Rob and the crew have done a great job.
