Here is a string keeper that I thought up. Can be made in minutes with the minimal amount of skills or tools from scrap leather. All that is needed is a thin piece of leather,paper punch,straight edge and scissors or anything sharp enough to cut the leather.

Even looks traditional!

Simple and functional. I've just found my favorite string keeper.

Another way to make an easy string keeper is to take a 3" square piece of thin scrap leather, fold it in half and make a rounded cut wide at the bottom and tapered to the center fold at the top. Punch a 1/4" hole in the middle of the wide end. Run a bead of barge cement along the inside edge of both sides of your folded piece and stick them together. Run an eight inch piece of lacing through the hole you punched and thread both ends of the lacing through a 55mm decorative bead. To use the string keeper put the leather cup over your limb tip, put the leather tails and bead under your string and slide the bead up the lacing until the string is tight. Real easy and quick.

I can make one even quicker; Take an appropriate sized rubberband, fold it over the string, and then place both loops around the string nock.

Thanks all but the Morrison isn't mine it's Larrys and he is selling it. Wish I could afford it but as it turned out I got an Acadian Tree Stick from Larry.

Walkingstick,I'm no genius. I just keep trying to find things to make that will look traditional and not cost me a lot of time and money to make.Now if I had money I wouldn't worry about it.

Hey Linc, I bought a pair of leather mitts lined with some kinda lining. Kids size. Paid a buck at a goodwill or somethere. Cut the thumbs off and punched a hole and ran a thong through for a string keeper. Sewed the thumbhole shut on the mitts and then punched a hole in a corner of the mitt , hang them off my binocular harness, put my glasses in them when it is binocular time. I got one of theose Russian Zeiss bino's that have no rubber piece on the eye piece. Pretty hokey my buddy says. hehe, I like them. Might deorate one up like yours.

Here is the simple one I mentioned. I found Duco worked fine for gluing the leather together.
