Mana 'o video clip "how I tie an adjustable string nock"
« on: September 01, 2011, 01:48:00 AM »
Here's another how to video for the gang.  Please keep in mind that this nock tying style may not be for everyone.  I just wanted to share for those who are interested due to requests that I've gotten.
Thank you!

Aloha!

Once again...very well done video Ryan.  I like that knot....and no superglue needed.  Thanks!

I have been struggling with tied-on knocks for a while. Can't wait to use your method. Thanks!

Thanks Ryan, excellent again, also used some of your tips from the silencer tie on yesterday and much better, no more string cuts in the crease of my fingers and using a clamp over the catwisker material sure makes it much easier to tie them on.  Don't know why I never thought about tying loops on both ends of the serving material before, duh!  Also I use #4 nylon serving instead of string material as it has a course braid and some stretch to it and you can really get it tight and holds very well.  Good job!
Another suggestion for string nock material, use 200# dacron bowfishing line or downrigger line and tie on using the same type of knot that most people tie strings loops on with and burn the ends and works very well and super easy and you can thread it up and down the serving to adjust as well.
They'll be no quitters till we bag us some critters!

Thanks guys and you're welcome!  Please remember, this knot can be tricky.  It's almost like bare shaft tuning, you either love it or you hate it. LOL!
Things to keep in mind.  The center serving must be tight and secure.  Keep in mind the direction of the center serving in relation to the string twists.

Great idea Mark!  I'll try that knot tonight.

Please don't hesitate to ask questions, I'll be more than glad to help or give suggestions.

Ryan

Ryan,
I really like your demostration and just this year I've been toying around with tie on nocks and been hunting with bow since 1977...Never realized the benefit of a tie on till recently..I have noticed the biggest difference with two tie on nocks and your demo is very easy to learn and I want to thank you for a super great video...You deserve a pat on the back for a job well done Ryan..  :clapper:

This looks like the best nock knot I've seen yet.  Great timing as I'm getting a few strings in the mail next week.  Thanks.

Thanks for all the kind words.  Really appreciate it!

If others have video or pics of other similar knots, please share them.

Please remember, this knot may take some practice, so try it before putting them on a new string.
