Is the only thing I use..you cant go wrong in my mind. It gets hot here in texas and a glove really makes my hands sweat, and my index finger gets sore with a glove

I really like mine.  It gives me a consistent hold on the string.

Should a guy get the finger spacer with this tab?

I use one.  Definitely worth the money and will far outlast any glove.  Mine has a cordovan face and yes, I do use the finger spacer.  I modify my tabs by rounding the edges of the aluminum plate except on the string side.   This prevents the metal from scratching your face.  Also, I don't use the chin ledge that comes with the tab - it's for an under the chin target anchor.

The tab promotes a deep hook and consistant string placement.  I also get a much cleaner release with this tab opposed to other products.

I use the finger spacer as well.  If you buy the Elite tab with cordavan leather, it will come with the finger spacer.  Be sure and ask when ordering.  I bought mine from Lancaster Archery Supply.  You can do a search and they will come up by putting in the name.

I have shot many different tabs and this one gives me the best results of all.

Hey Scott and all! Quick question about the Cavalier.....I have been planning on ordering one but was wondering...
Will the finger spacer do anything about protecting the inside of your index finger? (the edge of finger that sits on top of the arrow nock) My finger is so sore and inflamed that it hurts to shoot. I use a SAM (Super Archery Mitt) and really like it, but for some reason it puts pressure on that area of my finger......

Hey Danny, it sure does a good job at that.  The finger spacer is fairly wide.  Also, the edge of the aluminum plate butts up against the string.  This squares your hand to the string and helps to stop that index finger from hitting the nock. Your problem could be too much angle on your forearm, elbow, or hand. The tab helps stop that.  All in all, the tab is well thought out and designed  to force you to have proper string hand form.

However, unlike Papa I've always ordered the finger spacer separately.  As he suggested, maybe it's something new they're supplying and worth asking about.

After shooting the tab awhile, you will see a definite demarkation where the string leaves the cordovan.  Trim the excess cordovan to that line for an even cleaner release.

Thanks Scott!!! I just got mine ordered...I got it from Lancaster and ordered the finger spacer as well.
Thanks for the advice as well! I will have to get Tracy or Brent to watch me and see if I am doing something wrong (my form is FAR from perfect)....

Do you hunt with your tab or do you use a different tab/glove for hunting?

Coyote2, I am sorry!! Not trying to hijack your thread! I really appreciate your post, I have been wondering about these tabs for a while as well! Trust me, if Scott recommends one, you won't regret giving it a try! The boy is a shooting machine!!!      :notworthy:

ylee,

I shoot a Cavalier tab with the finger spacer. I love it and you will too. It does protect the finger. Scott was on the money about the tab putting you in right position to get a clean release.

Hope you enjoy it.

I hunt with my tab as well and have not had any problems with it.  You will like it.  It is well worth the money.

Yessir Danny, I do hunt with the Cavalier.  Not that you have to worry about it much in TX, but on cold days you can wear it over any glove.  I used to cut the fingertips off when using a shooting glove.  The tab gets a little getting used to, but once you do it is just about as easy to use as a glove.

One more modificiation some folks do is to place moleskin or velcro over the aluminum plate to quiet it should you accidentally bang it against something while hunting.

Yep Scott, I got it Monday. I haven't got to shoot much with it yet, but I can tell it will take some getting used to. The finger spacer makes a HUUGE difference! I think I have always tried to subconsciously "hold" the nock with my fingers and this tab won't let me  :knothead:

Thanks again for the advice and all your help!!!

I have been shooting better and better and can tell that the Cavalier is going to be a big help this year at the 3D shoots and our indoor fun shoots!!!

I have the one with the metal plate that covers half of my fingers, I don't like it at all. Seems the plate is always in my way. It doesn't have 40 shots out of it, I paid $39.00 for it. I'll sell it for $20.00.

You're right Danny, it takes awhile to get used to.  But once you do, foam and live critters beware!!!
