Shot my first 3D tournament today..Stick and Wheel....
« on: February 11, 2007, 08:43:00 PM »
I know some of you guys that hang out here were there. I overhead a few of you on the practice range, but did not introduce myself. It was my first 3D shoot. I really enjoyed it. I was planning on taking a few pictures but did not get around to it. I think I am hooked. lol. I shot a 162. My buddies said that was a good score and should hang around for the end. What do I know? I was out just having fun. Then this guy hands me a trophy and said good job. I was shocked..... Not into to the competition thing, I just want to be able to make a good shot on whatever animal I am hunting. Anyway, it was a good time and I think this will help me when fall rolls around. Anyway if any of the stick and wheel guys are around, I want to say thank you for a well organized shoot.

Don't you just love shootin' with the wheel boys??I've shot a local 3D shoot with Trad guys and it took 1.5 hours. I shot the same course with wheel guys and it took 5 hours.   :knothead:      :knothead:   When I'm up 1st I'll walk up to the stake and swush. I'll walk back and they would all kinda stare and ask "Did you shoot". Uh yeah.       I'm bringing a seat this year ........and maybe some basket weaving.

Yea I did notice it took the wheel guys a lot longet to shoot. What's that all about? Luckly they had 2 courses set up on for Trad and one for the compound. I took us about 1 hour to shoot 20 targets. We never once had to wait. It was a very well organized event.

Hey i like the idea of having the Trad & compound guys on different courses. i've shot a lot of 3D over the years and some of these guys take the compitition pretty seriously, and have a tendency to drag it out. Always seemed like the poor Trad guys were waiting around watching the speed bow shooters mess with there equipment. Most the good trad shooters i've seen over the years were always the first on the trail in the morning. They would shoot the trail in half the time, and seemed to have a lot more fun at it too.....I'm looking forward to getting into the trad shooting myself this spring.....Kirk

The  "US and THEM"  Syndrome raises its Ugly Head. Its  ALL  Archery Guys, and Variation on the Same Outcome!
I Totally Agree that if they have a Mix Shooting, then Plant the Markers and Go For It!! The Club we  USED  to have here, put out seperate Stakes, Traditional and Wheelie Bows had Different Lengths to Shoot.   :readit:
Traditional Stakes were Closer, Thems The Rules Boys. Get a Recurve if ya want to shoot closer to the Target. Just dont Whine and Cry after the Shoot is Over!!
Its  ALL  ARCHERY Folks , a Fun but Challenging Sport, and There is Room for  ALL  who want to "Play"!    :campfire:    :goldtooth:
