how does a clicker work?
« on: February 13, 2007, 08:35:00 PM »
I hear guys talking about these things alot.  How do they work?  Does it just click when you have reached your draw point?  Does it work for guys who like to hold for 2 seconds or so before they shoot?

Yep, they're set to click when the archer reaches a set draw length.  The click triggers the shooters release.  It's function is to insure a pretty consistant draw length from shot to shot.  The key to using one correctly is back tension and pulling thru the shot.

Clicker is a tool that helps you reach full draw consistently on each shot.  The "click" tells your brain you're at full draw and triggers your release.

Yes, you can use a clicker if you draw and hold.  Actually, I think that is the best way to use a clicker.  Draw, anchor, hold, and stretch it back just a little and "click", arrow away!

The kind that stick on your bow limbs with a string that attaches to your bow string are pretty inexpensive, and easy to take off if you decide you don't like it.  Probably worth a try.

We had a friend that used one and we would snap a twig when he was almost at anchor and away the arrow would go.  We only treat him so nice because he is our friend.  :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:
